MSc Science and Technology Policy and Management
MSc Science and Technology Studies The David Edge studentship provides support for a full-time student in 2009-10 in either the MSc Science and Technology Policy and Management or the MSc Science and Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The studentship is awarded by ISSTI in honour of the life and achievements of Dr David Edge (1932-2003).
The studentship covers the costs of the University UK/EU fees for the one-year full-time course – £4850 – plus £450 research expenses. Applications are welcome from within or outside the European Union, but the studentship does not cover the full costs of fees for non-EU students.
David Edge David Edge was founder of the Science Studies Unit at Edinburgh, a central figure in the development of the field of Science and Technology Studies, and a valued colleague and mentor over many years to people now working in the field at Edinburgh and beyond. David for many years was editor of the key journal Social Studies of Science. He was author and editor of many works in the field still widely read and used, including the books (with Michael Mulkay) Astronomy Transformed, (with Barry Barnes) Science in Context, and (with Iain Cameron) Scientific Images and their Social Uses. Among the many tributes to David, see Social Studies of Science 33(1), February 2003.
