Deputy Director, Malaria with PSI in Kenya
PSI is seeking an experienced, dynamic Deputy Director to support PSI's growing malaria control portfolio. As Deputy Director, this position will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing PSI's malaria control strategy. Three regional technical advisors will report to the Deputy Director and support him/her in the overall responsibility for PSI's malaria prevention and treatment activities, including delivery and promotion of treated mosquito nets and ACTs, through public, private and community based channels and in providing technical support across 32 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Deputy Director will be directly responsible for leading PSI's malaria diagnosis and treatment agenda and will also be responsible for overseeing PSI's first multi-country integrated community case management (CCM) program. PSI's Malaria Associates internal training program and PSI's external affairs activities related to malaria will also be the responsibility of this position. The position is based in Nairobi and reports to the Vice President - Malaria control & Child survival.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage the annual malaria department budget in consultation with the Vice President
- Support country programs in scaling up access to malaria diagnosis and ACT treatment
- Short term technical assistance to country programs in program design, fundraising, research product development and launch, quality assurance and marketing and communication for improved treatment seeking behavior
- Represent PSI at appropriate international fora and be the primary case management liaison with WHO, UNICEF, PMI, GFATM, and antimalarial drug manufacturers
- Manage three malaria technical advisors providing a broad range of malaria control services to endemic country control programs
- Use technical skills and experience and improve the scale, quality and reputation of PSI's malaria case management services to national malaria control programs
- Relevant post-graduate degree (MPH, MD, PhD, etc.)
- Relevant and up to date technical knowledge of malaria case management
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage public health technical staff
- Eight years work experience in a technical or management capacity, with at least four years in a developing country
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with the international malaria community
- Fluent written and spoken English essential. French, in addition, would be advantageous
- Ability to travel 30% of the time internationally
- Experience working with PSI advantageous
