This is the key senior administration post with the VSOTz team. We are looking for an outstanding experienced professional, who has an excellent understanding of customer care and human resources combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a challenging, complex and culturally diverse workplace. You will have a relevant professional degree and be at ease analysing and presenting information in both English and Kiswahili to variety of audiences. All of these skills will enable you to work with the VSO team to ensure we offer excellent administration, logistical and financial support to our 80 plus volunteers spread out across Tanzania and to ensure our central admin, logistical and finance systems run smoothly.


The person we are looking for will be able to demonstrate strengths in the following areas:

· Skilled people manager with experience of performance management, coaching and mentoring and a proven track record of improving performance of those you manage.

· Good understanding of human resource methodologies and approaches and the ability to apply these within the workplace.

· A proven commitment to customer care approaches.

· Proven ability of developing, managing and monitoring Administration, HR, logistical and finance systems

· Experience of prioritising and handling a heavy workload for both your self and team.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Kiswahili and English including the ability to synthesise information, produce reports and to make presentations to variety of audiences.

· Excellent IT skills: Microsoft word, Excel and, PowerPoint. .

· Good understanding of finance issues and the practical ability to set, manage and report on budgets.

· Experience of working with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

· Willingness to develop understanding of Gender and HIV and AIDS and to mainstream this within your work.

· A commitment to reducing poverty in Tanzania

· Ability to spend up to 4 weeks a year travelling away from home.

· Strong commitment to developing your personal and professional learning.

· Possession of a clean full driving licence is desirable.


VSO offers an excellent starting salary of 1,948, 083 Tsh this includes a dependant’s medical allowance. In addition pension contribution (10%) and free health care for employees is offered.
