Speak for the Child (SFC) supports families and communities in Kenya to improve the health, nutrition, and psychosocial care of young children orphaned and affected by HIV/AIDS, to improve the long-term health of their caregivers, and to increase food security in their households. The current phase of SFC is being implemented in the Western, Nyanza, and Coast provinces of Kenya and has supported 32,174 orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) with committed funding from the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) through September 30, 2010. SFC works with community based organizations (CBOs) to serve as key partners in the delivery of services and support to children. Through field-tested, intensive and ongoing training and monitoring, SFC insures that a comprehensive, multi-sectoral program of care is delivered and that CBO capacity to administer, implement and monitor the program is strengthened.
AED currently seeks a Senior Program Advisor who will be responsible for adapting the SFC program model for each province, addressing management challenges, linking SFC with other organizations, facilitating leverage activities, distilling and disseminating SFC program learning, and communicating with current and potential donors about program impacts and design. S/he will also collaborate with AED/SFC HQ and field-based teams, and ensure that AED/SFC's program of support to children and families affected by HIV/AIDS expands, reflects, and shares its program learning. This position is based in Kenya.Well qualified candidates will have:
MA and twelve (10) years of experience in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work.
Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support programming, working with development agency coalitions, and community development work.
Experience in project management.
Experience in and knowledge of Kenya donors and implementing agencies.
Experience with Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programming a plus.
