TweetThis! Central Scholarship Bureau for Maryland Students

Description: CSB provides interest-free, noncompetitive, "last-resort" loans to post-secondary students attending undergraduate, graduate or vocational school. The loans are (per year): $2500 for freshmen, $3000 for sophomores/juniors and $3500 for seniors. Graduate students can be offered up to $5000 a year.

Central Scholarship Bureau has added new grant and scholarship programs! In addition to the interest-free loan program, we now offer 17 grant and scholarship opportunities for the 2007-2008 school year. Below you'll find a listing of our grant and scholarship programs.

*Remember, any student who submits a complete CSB application package by the deadline of May 31, 2007, can be considered for any and all of these programs for which they meet the criteria, as well as for our interest-free loans.*

  • TEACHERS - The Straus Foundation Grants for Teachers, The Kassap Family Scholarship Fund for Teachers, The BHD Endowed Scholarship Fund for Teachers
  • FOR JEWISH STUDENTS - The Lessans Family Scholarship
  • CSB ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS - (details listed on main page) Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Baltimore City College, Woodlawn High School, Forest Park High School, Innovation High Schools
  • FOR STUDENTS ENTERING MEDICAL/NURSING PROFESSIONS - Chesapeake Urology Associates Scholarship, The Ellen R. Clayton Scholarship for Nursing Students
  • FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY - The Shoe City-WB54/WB50 Scholarship
  • FOR THE ARTS - The Leon Fleisher Scholarship Fund, The William G. Baker Scholarship Fund
  • COUNTY-BASED GRANTS - The Howard County General Hospital Scholarship(for Howard County residents), The Central Scholarship Bureau Harford County Town of Aberdeen Scholarship
Anyone who:
  • has established residency within Baltimore City or Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford or Howard Counties for at least a year before entering a post-secondary program;
  • is a student in good academic standing, and planning to take a minimum of nine credits a semester from any accredited institution;
  • Meets CSB income guidelines, i.e. family adjusted gross income of less than $75000 plus $10000 for each additional dependent child in a post-secondary program;
  • Has applied for all available government and school financial aid; and
  • Has a "last-resort" financial need that can be met within CSB guidelines.No application deadline for loans.
