Duties and Responsibilities: As a study physician, the incumbent is responsible for clinical aspects of the TB research at MMRP. The position holder provides advice and expertise in planning, implementing, and analyzing the clinical part of scientific projects, and he/she is accountable for examination, treatment and follow-up of study participants. The incumbent collaborates with other departments within MMRP and the Mbeya Referral Hospital, with regional and local public health officials, and with other governmental and non governmental agencies.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD). Applicants should have expertise in clinical care of TB patients for at least 1 year.
Skills: Experience in health research, in general, and understanding of TB-related scientific issues, in particular, are strongly preferred. The incumbent should possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as advanced computer skills. Much initiative, internal motivation, ability to prioritise work and multi-task, and collegiality for cooperative intra- and cross-divisional activities are necessary.
Salary: Above governmental payment for medical doctors.
Education: Further postgraduate education will be facilitated after a certain time of employment.
