Opportunity : International Bursaries, generously sponsored by ASGBI
A number of International Bursaries, generously sponsored by ASGBI Trading Limited, The British Journal of Surgery Society and the Overseas Surgical Fellowship Group, are available to provide support for international surgical trainees in the development of their training by providing the possibility of spending two days in a UK hospital and attending the 2009 International Surgical Congress of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
Each Bursary is worth £1,800 and includes:
Six night’s accommodation (10th May – 15th May 2009)
Three day registration for the Congress
A ticket to the Association’s Gala Dinner
£20/day subsistence rate
£600 towards travel expenses (re-imbursement of receipts)

In 2009 the Congress takes place from 13th to 15th May 2009 in Glasgow, with the theme ‘Delivering a Modern Surgical Service’. Recipients will be hosted in a hospital local to the conference for two days prior to the three day Congress.
Applications should consist of a Curriculum Vitae along with two supporting clinical references and a covering letter describing why you wish to attend the Congress and the ways in which you hope to benefit. Any trainee in a specialist training programme in general surgery in a poorly resourced country is eligible to apply.
