TweetThis! Africa's Cocaine : Why do I feel the pain?

Cocaine is a powerfully addictive stimulant drug. The powdered hydrochloride salt form of cocaine can be snorted or dissolved in water and injected. Crack is cocaine base that has not been neutralized by an acid to make the hydrochloride salt. This form of cocaine comes in a rock crystal that is heated to produce vapors, which are smoked. The term “crack” refers to the crackling sound produced by the rock as it is heated. - NIDA
Cocaine is one of the most insidious drugs that has mashed up the World in a terrible way. Effects of having to deal with a drug addict are real. My experience comes from having to make up with a close relative in which, after doing all we could think of, I had to reach out to the entire society writing to members of the caring community, seeking ideas and advices on what to do, and how to go about helping a drug addict. My cousin who started experimenting with cigarettes while at Mawenzi Secondary School in his First Year of Secondary Education in 2002, has since counted three years of drug addiction. We have been to Mirembe and Lutindi hospitals at least three different times with very, very little success.

Our hopes now lies in the spiritual and behavioral support. It is very sad to learn that, for all these years, my cousin has yet to have a clue of what has become of himself. It is a very frightening situation to be in and having to witness lives of loved ones drowning in front of your eyes without the ability to help or save them. Loosing your mind and life altogether is a state of devastation. Any household that has no choice but face this reality, knows very well how depressing and difficult it is to deal with a person addicted to these ilicit drugs. If some people in the drug business had a little insight of the terrible hell they create to thousands of innocent people in the world and especially the poor communities, I bet they would, in shame, bang their heads off the wall. I hope that one day they will realise how bad they have disfigured this world.

My big and real question is, why does every problem has to (almost always) have Africa involved?

In this video below, you will see the effects of cocaine trafficking in Guinea (worth more than the country's entire GNP).
