Wanjiru Kihoro Fellowship Programme
Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS)
FAS is an international women’s organisation with ECOSOC Consultative Status working to empower African women to assume a leadership role in peace building and conflict resolution. FAS programmes operate mainly in war-torn countries such as the Mano River and the Great Lakes regions. FAS also works closely with African sub-regional and regional organs such as ECOWAS and the African Union to ensure greater involvement of women in decision-making processes for peace and development.

To contribute to the development of a new generation of African women leaders, dedicated to utilizing their voices and experience to further women’s central role in peace building and development work in their country, region and continent.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
FEMMES AFRICA SOLIDARITE (FAS), an NGO working to enhance women’s roles in peace building and conflict resolution on the African continent, in collaboration with the Swiss Foundation, offers a unique Fellowship opportunity to a young African woman or man looking to gain International experience in the fields of gender, peace and development.
THE WANJIRU KIHORO FELLOWSHIP will offer the candidate the opportunity to work for a period of 9 months at FAS’ International Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland before returning to put their skills into action through an additional 3 month placement with an NGO in Africa.
Applicants should have a degree, or be currently undertaking studies, in a field relevant to the position (gender; development; international relations), or have substantial work experience in this area in an NGO environment.
Applications must enclose the following documents:
- A CV detailing educational and professional experience
- An essay of approximately 800 words, detailing motivations for seeking the Fellowship; what he/she hopes to achieve ; and how this experience will be beneficial for future work
- The names and contacts of two or three references
