TweetThis! The Ugandan student in Tanzania has been sent home for masterminding

A Ugandan third year law student at the state-owned University of Dar es Salaam Odong Kefa Odwar has been repatriated for masterminding the recent students’ strike at the university, reports APA.
The Tanzanian Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Mr. Peter Kivuyo said that Odwar had violated his visa conditions, as a result should be repatriated. “Odwar was sent home last Thursday evening aboard Kenya Airways and reports we got is that he has been detained at Entebbe airport by immigration officers who are waiting for a report from Interpol Tanzania.” The police investigations have revealed that Odwar masterminded the strike that forced the university administration to send students home indefinitely.

Odwar, who was residing at Mikocheni area in Dar es Salaam, after his house was searched, police found a Revolutionary Party Youth Wing card no.711818 to his name which was issued on October 25, 2006, that clearly showed he actively participated in politics in the country.

Since her has been repatriated, he automatically ceases to be a student of the University of Dar es Salaam.

Police are still holding six other students on allegations of being behind student strikes in universities.

The arrests came as a result of the recent widespread strikes that led to the suspension of undergraduate students at the University of Dar es Salaam, Mkwawa University College of Education, Dar es Salaam University College of Education and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).
