The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a world famous institution with a strong track record in training postdoctoral fellows who have gone on to become leading scientists.
Talented individuals wishing to work within any group of the LMB are invited to show their interest by approaching a Group Leader in the LMB. This initial part of the application process involves applicants being accepted by one of the LMB Group Leaders.
The LMB International Fellowship has been created for the development of innovative research, therefore the ideal candidate will be proposing to introduce a new project for the LMB, not the continuation of an existing project currently being developed within the LMB or elsewhere.
Successful applicants will be awarded a 3 year training and development fellowship, which is open to postdoctoral scientists who have recently completed their doctoral studies or are wishing to move into a new research area. Scientists of any nationality, who are exceptional, highly-motivated and independent are sought. Competition for these awards is likely to be strong
Work at the LMB covers a wide range of molecular biology, including structural and cell biology, neurobiology and immunology. For information on the current participating Group Leaders and their research interests, please see the application procedure on our website. The LMB provides excellent training in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment, and proposals that involve collaboration between groups are also welcome.
Formal applications, following your acceptance by a Group Leader, should be made between 7 September and 7 October 2009.
Applications must be made online at
http://jobs.mrc.ac.uk/ inputting reference LMB09/460 (please include a CV and list of publications, covering letter explaining why you are applying to the particular research group, a short statement of research plans - 4 sides including references, a letter of support from the LMB group leader and the names of 3 professional referees). If you do not have internet access or experience technical difficulties please call 01793 301280.
Please note that applications will not be considered without Group Leader support. Group Leader support can be sought during the application process, but a completed online application along with confirmation of support will only be accepted if received by the closing date below.
Closing date: 7 October 2009
Selection is expected in November 2009, for a starting date before February 2010.
The salary offered for the fellowship will be supported by a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days’ annual leave entitlement, an optional MRC final salary pension scheme and excellent on-site sports and social facilities.
