DESCRIPTION
If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Chief Education to be based in its Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Reporting to the Deputy Representative, the post holder is responsible for the whole BELS Programme. S/he takes the lead in strategic policy, planning, implementation, monitoring and resource allocation issues in relation to Basic Education and Life Skills.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences and preferably education, or a related technical field with a research component. At least ten years progressively, responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in Education Programme planning and management, or at least a closely related field, with emphasis on strategic planning.
Knowledge of the latest developments and technology in education and related fields.
Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teaching skills.
Leadership, supervisory and managerial skills
Good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment, requiring a very high level of diplomatic negotiation skills.
Good understanding of education policy, planning and monitoring and evaluation, including interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data and budget analysis for education policy and planning.
Good understanding and commitment to the UN Harmonization and Delivering as One pilots.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
