- Ensure that works comply with Tanzanian Mining (safe working) Regulations and the Barrick Buzwagi Health, Safety and Environmental site requirements
- Leadership to ensure that works are performed to the approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Field Level Risk Assessments are undertaken prior to the commencement of the works and achieve Zero LTI.
- Control, issue and carry out regular inspections of all hand and electric tools issued.
- Implement sound engineering standards and ensure they are upheld by PML Maintenance Team.
- Liaise with maintenance planners to ensure effective labour utilisation and controls to get proper maintenance of all machinery and that workloads are undertaken within planned duration.
- Ensure optimum availability of equipment and maximize component life in a cost optimum manner.
- Maintain and Repair Owner’s Plant; Lighting Plants, Dewatering Pumps, Light Trucks, Wash bay facility, Generators and Light Vehicles.
- Supervise Dewatering operation in the pit for a well drained pit.
- Facilitate training programs to enhance the development of the mechanics, services men, artisans, planners and supervisors.
- Deputise for Mine Maintenance Superintendent as required.
- To be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety, efficient utilisation of the resources, Continuous Improvement ideas and Projects; and encourage teamwork across the departments.
- Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfill the overall business objective.
- Participate effectively with Succession Planning in the Mining Team, to ensure progressive development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability.
- Manage business decisions and transaction in compliance to the Company Code of Ethics and compliance to the Sarbenes-Oxley (SOX) law and standards.
- Diploma or FTC in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in services and repair of light vehicles, light trucks, minor plants like lighting plants, dewatering pumps, generators, HDPE pipe welding functions, mobile and fixed cranes
- Good communication skill. Computer skills in Maintenance and Planning software. Hydraulics and Electro-hydraulics. Dyno testing and troubleshooting experience on Air Cooled and Water cooled Engines. Workshop. machining, welding and pipe/ plate fabrication. Mining equipment selection and performance. Contracts and Contractor management
