Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Business Development leads the Company’s business development effort in the public and private sectors including strategy, direction, revenue growth, and profitability. The Director plays the central role in managing proposal-related processes and facilitating and overseeing teamwork necessary for development, harmonization, finalization, and submission of all deliverables on assigned proposals, LOIs and strategies, ensuring deliverables are programmatically sound, responsive to guidelines and requirements, and advance new business and program priorities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Director, Business Development leads the Company’s business development effort in the public and private sectors including strategy, direction, revenue growth, and profitability. The Director plays the central role in managing proposal-related processes and facilitating and overseeing teamwork necessary for development, harmonization, finalization, and submission of all deliverables on assigned proposals, LOIs and strategies, ensuring deliverables are programmatically sound, responsive to guidelines and requirements, and advance new business and program priorities.
- Develop strategies and implementation plans for new business/program development in key focus areas at country, regional and global levels effectively leveraging Company assets and resources.
- Gather, track, synthesize, and disseminate intelligence and other information regarding new business opportunities in the public and private sectors related to USAID and relevant donors, foundations, corporations, and other bilateral and multi-lateral donors.
- Manage the proposal process, from development to submission, in coordination with staff and partner organizations, including the leadership and management of cross-organizational teams and processes.
- Direct the post-submission period, including coordination of responses, best and final offers, and post-submission debriefings. Coordinate and support the hand-off and transition of awards to delivery team.
- Manage environmental scans for new business/program development, field-based needs assessments, and strategic planning. Identify needs, trends, opportunities, challenges, and innovation within the Company’s core and growth areas.
- Market and represent the Company cultivating networks among donors, partners, potential partners, and competitors, gathering information and identifying opportunities, trends, and resources.
- Develop and write documents for strategies, proposals, and marketing of BroadReach programs to potential donors. Provide market intelligence and programmatic and technical advice, input and support to develop and market proposals and strategies.
- Stay abreast of technical and programmatic issues through research, reading, event participation, and field visits to support strategic planning and the development of proposals and other relevant materials.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years proposal and program experience including the design, development, finalization, management, implementation, and monitoring of large-scale, complex proposals and projects for donors such as USAID and CDC, with an emphasis on healthcare issues including HIVAIDS, health systems strengthening, and infectious diseases
- Master's and/or other advanced degrees in Public Health, International Development, Business, or related disciplines
- Achievements in securing funds from public sector donors
- Proven success managing business development including the creation of multi-year strategic plans and realization of projected revenue growth
- Proactive in seeking out, synthesizing, presenting, and disseminating information relevant to new business/program development including new opportunities, emerging needs and trends, innovations, existing programs/projects, potential donors and partnerships, and new business strategies
- Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Strong programmatic/technical knowledge of global public health issues and developing country needs, priorities, and trends
- Excellent written, verbal, influencing, and negotiation skills; high level of proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
