Conficker/Downadup/Kido computer threat for April 1. Get Free cleaning tools.

This is the update of what you should know about Conficker/Downadup/Kido worm:
This worm will not affect Linux or Mac computers.
If your computer doesn't have anti virus and anti malware, buy one and install it as soon as possible. If you have them update them as soon as you can. Note however that this worm can gain access to your computer and change Windows and anti-malware programs auto updates. Check the last update date/time of your anti-malware software, install all critical updates from Windows and your anti virus then set Windows to Update Manually, to do this read my previous post in which I explained how you can do it by clicking here.
This worm is affects most of the XP operating computers therefore download and install this MS vulnerability patched that was released in October 2008.
This worm can spread through shared networks therefore re-examine the strength of your password. A strong password has a combination of letter and numbers as well as signs.
This worm can be spread via USB drives. To prevent your computer from infection, avoid using flash drives and if you must then disable the Autorun. Here are the steps on how to disable the autorun in your computer:

- Go to the Start Menu and select 'Run'
- Type in gpedit.msc
- In the Group Policy window go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System
- Under 'System,' double-click the 'Turn Off AutoPlay' option from the right hand pane
- Select 'Enable' and choose 'All drives' from the drop down menu
- On non-Home versions of Windows (for example, Windows XP Professional, Vista Ultimate): Click Start, click Run, enter gpedit.msc (launch Group Policy Editor);
- XP users: Open Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System,
Vista users: Open Computer Configuration | Windows Components | AutoPlay Policies; - Find Turn Off AutoPlay in the right-hand pane and double-click it;
- Choose Enabled and set it for All drives.
- Launch the Registry editor (Start | Run | regedit);
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer;
- Double-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun in the right-hand pane and set its value to hexadecimal FF.
