The Laboratory of Molecular Hematology and Oncology (Head: Priv.-Doz. Dr. K.-A. Kreuzer) of the Department I of Internal Medicine (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. M. Hallek) at the University Hospi-tal of Cologne is seeking an application for a
Ph.D. Student
To be initially employed under a limited-time for one year, whereby this contract can be renewed.
Our group focuses on the pathophysiology and experimental therapy of Chronic lymphocytic leuke-mia (CLL). Among others, this B-cell neoplasia is characterized through an excessive expression of several members of the WNT protein family and its downstream components. Furthermore, micro-environmental stimuli which appear to be at least in part regulated by WNT signalling play a critical role in initiating and/or maintaining the malignant process. On the basis of our promising previous and ongoing research we plan to extend our investigations on that field.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Taking responsibilities for the designated research project
• Working in a highly motivated young team of Postdocs, Ph.D. students, MDs and MD students
• Participating in laboratory meetings and giving data presentations
Minimum qualifications
• Completed diploma or master of science
• English language proficiency (spoken/written)
• Knowledge and basic skills in modern protein chemistry and molecular biology
The Board of Directors of the University Hospital of Cologne places strong emphasis on gender equality and seeks to increase the proportional representation of women in this filed.
