“Kuna watu wana tabia kama ya kwangu, ninawasihi waache ...”
This is what happened in the Church last Sabbath [26th April, 2008]...
Key line: “Kuna watu wana tabia kama ya kwangu, ninawasihi waache …..”
The Sabbath was ok here in Mwanza town, the temperature was not so hot, the sky was blue (no clouds) and the was a little breeze of air which made the Sabbath to be cool.As usual the sons and daughters of the Almighty God arose early in the Morning to make their way to the church. For me it was my second Sabbath in Mwanza town and in this church (Kirumba Seventh Day Adventist Church).
The Sabbath School was over, the announcements were over and it was a time for a divine service. Before the real service began, I mean the time of introduction all visitors were bade to stand , who by default it were their 1st Sabbath to be in this church, around eighty visitors stood and they were bade to sit down. Due to scarcity of time they were not given a time to introduce themselves. But a special chance was given to one visitor whose forehead was full of bandages and his right arm. Before this time, He had told the church elders that, He was coming from Meatu [Shinyanga], He came with his friend from Meatu to Mwanza and this guy said He was on the way to Dar es Salaam. The transport they were using was a Motorcycle, and on the way they got an accident and this man had some wounds on his fore head and on his right hand. But He claimed that his friend is at Bugando Hospital and He has gone through a surgical operation to remove one of his legs because it was totally overwritten by an accident. So He needed support from the church and to support his friend. After the chairman of the divine service has narrated this story while this visitor was still standing, He [the visitor] added (palepale), “Nimepokea message, huyu rafiki yangu niliyewaambia yupo Bugando amelala mauti” so the issue became seriously than previously, everybody was shocked.
The Divine service continued as usual, after the service before going outside , we had to discuss the whole church for a moment how to help our friend [kama unavyojua watu wa Mungu wana upendo]. The deacons and deaconesses were bid to collect anything from people as they are marching out but we were told to come with something during afternoon session. When this man was called in front of the church to narrate to the people, As he was marching forward really He seemed to be injured. He could not talk clearly but He said “Mwenzangu ndugu zake wanakuja kumchukua mda si mrefu wamenipigia simu, ila mimi ni mgeni kabisa katika sehemu hii ya huu mji na nimefikia kwenye gesti hausi, na malipo sijafanya maana sina hela”. In real sense I contributed Tsh.1000 but a question clicked my mind, we were all at church, at what time this guy has talked with a phone.
We had lunch with this guy because I and he all are new in this church, so people were flowing to give him pole but for me I was doubtfully. The church elders took a decision to attend the one who is at Bugando (Marehemu if you wish) then to help the one who was not serious injured. They reached Bugando and this visitor with them, looking for all wards and at mortuary but my friend the Marehemu was not found. Now the guy was asked if he was sure of the name of his friend. After the situation has become so hot (I think beyond 100 deg Centigrade).
He had to confess that He was lying.
But it is true He was leaving in one of guest Houses in Mwanza town, it is true He had no enough money to pay in that guest.
By the guidance of the Holy Spirit the church elder were moved to see where this man was living. They went to the guest. They were received by a lady and they went to the room where this man was living. Now in amazement this lady seemed to be so mwenyeji in that room.
Now this is the true story what happened“
The man [visitor] departed from his mother who live in Meatu [Shinyanga] claiming to go to Dar es Salaam, but this man came with a certain lady from Meatu to spend in Mwanza, his plan was after two days He can continue with his journey to Dar es Salaam and the lady back to Meatu. This man (I can approximate him to be of 29old) did not know that He has misplaced his ATM card. They boarded a guest House in Mwanza. After they have done their mission this man realized no ATM card. Because He is a Seventh Day Adventist He came to the Holy people of the LORD Almighty for help. Bad enough he had told his mother that He has already reached to Dar es Salaam and Dar es Salaam is so good.” After confession to the elders the man was told, “Because you lied infront of the whole church you have to confess in front of the whole church.”, He said he was ready for that.
It was around 5pm in the evening (hii ndio raha ya kurudi mchana kanisani) when they had arrived back at the church. After all the programs had ended, the church elder explained in front of the church, but the man was given his turn to speak. This is what he said.“Tuombe …….. (After his prayer) Ndugu zangu, Bwana ni mwema maana leo amedhihirisha uovu wangu. Mimi ni mwizi nilitaka kuwaibieni, mimi ni mnzizi. Kuna watu wengine humu kati yetu wapo kama mimi nawasihi waache. (After narrating what exactly happened).. nimekosa mbele zenu na mbele ya Mbingu. Ninachowaomba mnipe tu nauli ya kunifikisha Dar, nauli ya kumrudisha binti ya watu kwao na pesa ya kulipa guest house. Nami nitatuma hela kwa ajili ya bajeti ya kanisa laki mbili na elfu hamsini ifikapo tarehe 10 mwezi ujao. Ninaomba Mzee wa kwanza wa kanisa na shemasi waje kuniweka mbele za Bwana”.I do not know what type of confession is this (imagine it were you). But I liked the stand of the church , “Kanisa la Mungu halina huduma ya kuhudumia unzizi au matokeo yanayotokana nayo”. This is to say apart from forgiving him his other request were not granted.
Reported from Mwanza by an undisclosed writer. The one who witnessed and took time to talk with the man (visitor). I have withheld his name due to some reason, but I have sent this to you as a lesson to people who do not take seriously of Holy place , Holy people, Holy Day and the Creator Himself. I am not condemning this person but it is a time to examine me and you to make self examination. This person acknowledged his sin in front of people (like Achan in the valley of Achor), how many times we do hide our sins but claiming to be Marching upward to Zion the Beautifully City of God?
PS: The writer of this story did not want his name disclosed here, to which I agree with. I give all due credit to his reporting.

Mhh. Am not suprised at all; I’ve been seen alote of people with this beahavior and some of them are Seventh day Adverntist belivers.
But kwaujumla tabia ya uwongo siyo nzuri tena uwongo wa ndani la kanisa takatifu, hii imekidhili, but dhambi ni dhambi it doesn’t matter where, when or how you did they are the same called “sin”.
Sawa sawa ulivyosema Mtukwao, dhambi ni dhambi tu, haijalishi uzito, rangi, eneo, muda nk. Tuache dhambi ndipo tutatendeana wema!
