AED Senior Technical Officer, Education Commons, Pretoria, South Africa
AED is seeking a Senior Technical Officer to provide technical leadership, advocacy and, outreach and dialogue with stakeholders related to the Africa Education Commons. The Africa Education Commons (AEC) aims to establish a pan-African network where stakeholders from government, NGOs, business, education institutions and civil society can collaborate and share resources to overcome challenges to education in Africa. The goal is to expand access to quality education through the effective use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
The position will be based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Qualifications:
Masters degree in Information Systems with at least 6 years of relevant international development experience required; work experience with multi-lateral/bilateral donors and USAID field missions and programs desirable; Africa education-sector experience highly desirable; knowledge of international education and/or information and communications technology (ICT) highly desirable.

Essential job functions will include:
- Directing and managing sub-Saharan Africa in-country technical assessments to foster and create demand for country-level education commons as building blocks for the AEC.
- Country- level outreach and advocacy with education partners and public and private stakeholders to mobilize interest in and demand for AEC concept and in-country common variant.
- Direct country needs assessments to identify priority stakeholders, governance issues, education sectors needs, etc.
- Prepare and market an education commons technical and funding proposal package.
- Develop an AEC Annual Outreach/Country Assessment Implementation Plan in concert with Global Learning Portal and relevant partners.
- Provide performance and monitoring reports as required.
