Description
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is a global public/private partnership dedicated to raising and disbursing large amounts of additional finance to prevent and treat the three pandemics. The Global Fund has so far committed more than US$15 billion to over 740 programs in 140 countries.
The vacancy is in the Secretariat of the Global Fund. The Secretariat manages the grant portfolio, including executing Board policies, disbursing money to grant recipients and implementing performance-based funding of grants. The Secretariat is also tasked with resource mobilization; providing strategic, policy, financial, legal and administrative support and overseeing monitoring and evaluation. It is based in Geneva and has no staff located outside its headquarters.

Role Summary & Key results expected
Working under the overal supervision and guidance of the Director Communications, the Manager of Online Communications (MOC) oversees all aspects of digital communication and online information that are relevant to the GF.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

In particular, the MOC:

 
Manages the online team;
  • Is responsible for ensuring the continued high quality of the Global Fund's website;
  • Provides vision and leadership to ensure that the Global Fund fully exploits all aspects of online communications media in order to achieve the Organization's goals;
  • Develops and implements an online strategy which is fully in line with and supports the Organization's overall communications strategy;
  • Conceives, develops and maintains an online content management system.
Qualifications and Membership
Essential:
Advanced university degree in Communications or Journalism.

Experience
Essential:
  • At least 11 to 15 years of professional experience in the field of journalism or communication, including five years in online journalism or digital communication;
  • Management experience;
  • Working experience with developing countries highly desirable.
Technical skills and competencies
Skills:
  • Wide experience in online communications techniques;
  • Leadership and Management skills;
  • Ability to work in teams, especially in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment;
  • Strategic, creative, innovative and global thinking;
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills;

Languages
An excellent knowledge of English and French, with preferably a good working knowledge of one of the following: Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. Knowledge of other languages an asset.

The Global Fund is a foundation established under the laws of Switzerland enjoying certain privileges and immunities in Switzerland pursuant to a Headquarters Agreement concluded between the Swiss Federal Council and the Global Fund on 13 December 2004.

 
The person selected for this position will be appointed for a continuing duration contract.

 
We offer competitive remuneration packages. Salaries are paid in Swiss Francs, and salary and benefits of staff are exempt from taxation in Switzerland. This position is at Global Fund Grade 06 with a minimum basic annual salary of 134,700 Frs.
