Joined by his mother Rukia Manka, younger brother Akbar and other family and friends, Tanzanian born Hasheem Thabeet was the 2nd pick on Thursday in the NBA 2009 draft and first pick by Memphis Grizzlies inside the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York.

He will earn just under $12 million over the next three years.
