TweetThis! Journalism Division Scholarships, Spring, 2009

All applications for Journalism Division scholarships should be completed by the deadlines indicated and submitted to the Journalism Division office (Room 126). Mark the materials ³Scholarship Application².

For current majors
Awards will be effective with the fall semester of 2009 and the spring semester of 2010.

Continuation of awards to the spring is contingent upon satisfactory academic progress in the fall of 2009 and good standing at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Scholarships are contingent upon the student continuing to be a declared major in a sequence in the Journalism Division, namely the news-editorial sequence, the public relations sequence, or the secondary education (teaching) sequence.

Scholarships are paid in two installments, fall and spring except as noted below.

Minors in news-editorial and public relations may apply. Such minors will be considered if scholarship funds are available, and if the faculty determines the student who is a minor merits consideration through superior academic classroom work, outstanding work on The East Texan, or documented professional work or campus leadership. Minors should state clearly WHY they are applying for a Journalism Division scholarship and realize that first preference for Journalism Division scholarships is given to majors and entering majors (freshmen, transfers).

All awards are at the discretion of the Journalism Division faculty and the Department of Mass Media, Communication, and Theatre. The faculty will determine the number of scholarships and the amount of scholarships to be awarded and reserves the right to make no award for any given scholarship. A student may apply for more than one scholarship.

All recipients of Journalism Division scholarships must be full-time students during the semester or semesters in which they receive aid. They must be enrolled in journalism courses in Commerce.

Application materials will not be returned.
