Tanzania's Hasheem Thabeet continues to shine in the basketball arena
Over the weekend, Tanzanian basketball star, Hasheem Thabeet demonstrated yet another extraordinary performance which helped Connecticut Huskies beat Notre Dame 67 - 61 in the US College Basketball League match. Hash who is the team's junior center scored 9 points, made 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.
The 7ft 3inches tall blocked as many shots as he could to stop the nation’s fifth-leading scorer and the opponents' forward, Luke Harangody from scoring leaving him with frustrations due to the inability to go inside to score. Harangody finished with a game-high, 24 points.
“I think Hash’s presence may not show up in five blocked shots, it showed up in the fact that terrific players missed shots from point-blank range. They won’t miss those shots again. His presence does that to you. "Every time someone penetrated, they were looking for him” Connecticut Coach Jim Calhoun said.Hash seemed satisfied with his performance saying:
I didn’t go out and say Luke is not going to score today.... We talked some after the game, he was more experienced than me last year. Playing against Roy Hibbert and all the other guys last year really helped me...One writer says: "It was another marvellous performance by the young Tanzanian basketball player, after he had done it the week before when he managed 15 points and 17 rebounds as Connecticut defeated Seton Hall 76-61".

Can i comment in swahili pleaseee! Ok Hasheem anafanya vema saana katika mchezo. Na jana nilipokuwa naangalia mechi kati yao na "Irish" nilijivunia na kumtakia kila lililo jema. Alionesha kukua kimchezo hasa kwa muda ambao amekuwa akicheza kikapu. Jana ameonesha kitu kingine ambacho ni kutumia urefu wake kwenye kushambulia na si kuokoa pekee. Ana mapungufu kadhaa kama ilivyo kwa mchezaji yeyote lakini anaonekana kuboreka kila achezapo. Ni nyota njema inayokuja vema na yenye matumaini mema.
Sikuwahi kuangalia College Basketball lakini sasa nafanya hivyo (ila ni pale UCONN wachezapo tu)
